Final Project: Wooden Ventriloquist Doll

I began by setting up my work station and getting out everything needed to complete the makeup design. This was done using a Ben Nye Creme Makeup Kit, face glue, and a green correction stick.

I then used a Q-tip to apply my green correction stick anywhere I had any blemishes or red marks.

2nd, I brush my eyebrows upward with an eyebrow comb. I then combed my eyebrows with the glue given to us by our Stage Makeup Director to create a smooth surface. For more details, visit my separate page for this effect.

Next, I mixed my correct foundation color and applied it all over my face. I applied it heavily over my eyebrows, which I am trying to make "disappear".

Then, I begin to add shadows and highlights. Highlighted areas include the middle forehead, cheeks, and middle chin. The shadow areas include around mouth and below the cheekbones. This is to make the cheeks appear big, and of hard material.

Step #5, I drew an outline of the design I created with a brown pencil onto my face. This includes the eyebrows, which are located slightly above the real brows. This also includes the small half circles below the eyes and the right angles located on either sides of the mouth. I also then filled in both half circles with white creme make-up.

Next, I adjusted any lines I needed too. Once I was happy with the placement, I outlined everything in black. I also added small lashes onto the half circles below my eyes. I created a small black smear on the inside of the mouth lines for a better effect.

Once everything was outlined in black, I added the final touches. These include the black-maroon fade lip stick and the wood texture lines. After this, my design was complete.
